WHO ARE WE?

HelpMeSee is a nonprofit organization with a mission to restore the vision of millions of people worldwide living with visual impairment and blindness due to cataract. To achieve this mission, HelpMeSee has developed an innovative strategy focused on eye surgery simulation-based training, and partnerships with some of the most prestigious eye institutions in the world.

At the center of the HelpMeSee Simulation-based Training Program, is HelpMeSee’s Virtual Reality Eye Surgery Simulator that provides a lifelike experience of surgery during training. Our courses are based on training methodologies and principles proven to be highly effective in the field of aviation simulation training.

SIMULATION-BASED TRAINING

Experience the feeling of lifelike cataract surgery!

Drawing on virtual reality, HelpMeSee’s Simulation-based Training Program offers an authentic experience of live surgery, allowing for the scalable training of large numbers of cataract specialists. The program builds competency and reduces cataract surgery training time. The training allows cataract specialists to practice surgery and learn to address complications through simulation, rather than the human eye with a live patient.

Individual customization of training is a significant advantage, as the data on surgical steps can be tracked on the system. The simulation-based training and curriculum provide an authentic experience, allowing for errors without risks to patient safety.

HelpMeSee simulation-based training courses include an immersive instructor-led curriculum by experienced ophthalmic instructors. Our simulator has ultra realistic visuals and life-like scenarios that allow our learners to conduct hundreds of life-like eye surgeries in a matter of days; “feeling the training” with unprecedented tactile realism and visualization creating a full sensory experience with no risk to patients.

Course Duration: 4 Days

HelpMeSee’s instructor led MSTC training is an integrated training course that includes the interactive e-learning module, briefing sessions, facilitated discussions with a certified instructor, and guided sessions that allow trainees to expand their knowledge of the procedure and improve surgical skills through repeated practice on the Eye Surgery Simulator.

The MSTC is a 4-day virtual-reality simulation-based training course to develop and enhance MSICS surgical skills on the HelpMeSee Eye Surgery Simulator. The course covers all the required surgical steps to complete the MSICS procedure including the following steps viz; Tunnel Dissection, Capsulorrhexis & Nucleus delivery, Cortex removal & IOL implantation.

MSTC will benefit those interested in developing competency or improving their existing MSICS surgical skills.

MSICS Simulation-based Training Course (MSTC)

Complications Management Course (CMC)

Course Duration: 1 Day

HelpMeSee’s primary objective with the Complications Management Course is to empower surgeons with the knowledge and practice to efficiently handle cataract surgery-related complications. The Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) is a pivotal procedure that addresses the escalating demand for cataract treatments in underprivileged economies and areas with limited resources.

This course is critical for surgeons who operate in these challenging conditions, not only to perform seamless surgeries but also to be adept at tackling unexpected surgical complications. In essence, we are committed to honing your expertise to ensure you are well-prepared and skilled to navigate any obstacles that may arise during cataract surgeries.

CMC Course includes the following modules; ACIOL Insertion and Dialing, Sphincterotomy using Vannas Scissors, and CTR Insertion

Suturing Simulation-based Training Course (SSTC)

Course Duration: 1 Day

Suturing is a Basic ophthalmic surgical skill which is needed in most surgical procedures. Our comprehensive Suturing Course is designed to empower eye surgeons with the pivotal skill of suturing, applicable across all types of ophthalmic surgeries. No matter your area of specialization, learning to effectively suture a leaky tunnel is invaluable in managing critical complications such as perforations and tunnel wall lacerations.

Mastering this skill will allow surgeons to stabilize the eye, facilitating effective post-operative recovery. As suturing and restoring the eye is a crucial component of nearly every eye surgery procedure, we're here to help you hone this indispensable skill and enhance the overall quality of your surgical practice. Get ahead in your career with proficiency in comprehensive suturing techniques.

Phacoemulsification Simulation-based Training Course (PSTC)

Course Duration: 5 Days

Phacoemulsification is the latest and the most commonly performed type of cataract extraction technique worldwide. It requires a high degree of surgical skill and hand-eye-foot coordination. Mastering phacoemulsification will allow surgeons to implant newer intraocular lenses and help maximize patient outcomes.

The Phacoemulsification Simulation-based Training Course focuses on the basics of phacodynamics, the instrumentation involved in the surgery as well as the hand-eye and foot coordination required for this procedure. This is a four-day long course and is the ideal course for trainees who have completed their residency and are about to begin their surgical practice.

MSICS to Phacoemulsification Differences Simulation-based Training Course (MPDC)

Course Duration: 4 Days

This MSICS to Phacoemulsification Differences Course course is a specially tailored simulation-based course for the Indian subcontinent where residents and trainees are often well versed in MSICS. This course builds on the surgical principles of MSICS and helps the trainee understand the adjustment and changes required in order to graduate to phacoemulsification. The areas of special focus in this course include phaco-instrumentation, phaco-dynamics and wound construction. Additionally, trainees will also learn the details of implanting a foldable intraocular lens. This course is ideal for trainees who are proficient in MSICS and wish to acquire the skillsets needed for phacoemulsification.
